COVID CANNOT STOP THE JOY OF DRUMMING

Times have certainly changed. But our joy for drumming has not. This photo shows drumming on the corner in my neighborhood. What normally would of taken place with my drumming students in our studio, today took place outside to honor social distancing requirements. Folks driving by honked in appreciation at this impromptu performance. Bikers stopped to listen, and a wave of neighbors exited their homes and nestled into lawn chairs with beverages, eager for a diversion from the doldrums of staring at their own four walls for weeks on end. All four corners of the intersection were filled with drummers, dancers, and spectators, all correctly separated by space physically, but connected emotionally by the joy that music always brings.

And that is yet another reason why I do what I do.
