It's not everyday that you find such treasures on Facebook marketplace, but that is exactly where these beauties came from (aside from being originally created in Ghana, that is.) They were carved from coconut shells and painstakingly hand-painted. They will add color, beauty, and authenticity to my djembe drum studio. Today, as we battle COVID-19, the studio is quiet, but soon, the walls will resonate once again with the joyful, dynamic rhythms created by my students and myself. I cannot wait for this day. The painted ladies will look upon us and smile.
