Djembe Jive brings the magic and healing power of drumming to everyone, regardless of age or ability.
Nancy Brauhn-Curnes, a certified drumming facilitator and instructor, works with both individuals and groups in her drumming classes, workshops, events, and performances.
She provides drums and other percussion instruments but primarily uses the djembe (pronounced GEM-bay), an African hand drum. The word djembe means "gather in peace," and that is exactly what Nancy offers—the bringing together of music and community to promote joy and harmony in the playing of it.
Research shows that drumming provides many health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, boosting the immune system, and accelerating physical healing. It also promotes deep relaxation, releases negative feelings and emotional trauma, and increases memory, focus, and listening skills. Most of all it’s just plain fun!
